The Kenshikan Kendo Club and our Chief Instructor, Shigeo
Yoshinaga, would like to thank all sensei, participants, and their families for
attending the Ninth Annual Kenshikan Taikai on
Special thanks to Reverend Akihiro Okada of Daijin-Gu
Temple of Hawaii for conducting a special opening blessing ceremony, and the
Hawaii Gagaku Kenkyukai for performing very memorable gagaku (Japanese court
music).
Other highlights of the taikai included Nihon Kendo Kata
demonstrations by Katsumi Yamada (go-dan) and Tusha Buntin (go-dan), and later,
James Okada (ni-kyu) and Matthew Ito (san-kyu).
The novice division and upper level participants performed
well. We hope even more kenshi can
participate next year!
